Lord Adonis and ID Interactive CEO Azmat Mohammed at London Awards Evening

Monday, 7th July, 2008

ID Interactive CEO Azmat Mohammed with Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Schools and Learners Lord Adonis.

Both attended the awards evening held in London to celebrate and reward the capital’s next generation of talented writers, scientists, artists and musicians.

The awards formed part of The London Challenge which was launched in 2003 as a five-year programme to turn around London’s major school problems, including high teacher turnover, pupil mobility and underachieving secondary schools. It is a partnership between central government, local government, schools and other education stakeholders, and is led by the Minister for London Schools, Andrew Adonis.

Sir Mike Tomlinson is the new Chief Adviser for London schools, replacing Professor Tim Brighouse, who retired from the post last year.  The new vision for London will be published by Andrew Adonis and Sir Mike Tomlinson on Monday 14 July at University College London.

Minister for London Schools, Andrew Adonis, said:
“I thank ID Interactive for lending their support to this initiative.  Congratulations to all the successful entrants this year.  The high quality and imaginative entries are terrific examples of the talent and endeavour that exists within London’s state schools and I wish the students every success for the future.”

ID Interactive CEO, Azmat Mohammed, said:
“The quality of the entries was quite superb.  There is clearly a great deal of talent within the London Schools and I congratulate all the students who took part.”

Actress Roxanne McKee, who plays Louise Summers in Hollyoaks, said:
“Congratulations to all the amazing students who’ve received awards. It’s great to hear about the talent in London schools and it was great to see some of the creativity in the winning entries.”

Pupils who submitted their work were congratulated by Minister for London Schools, Andrew Adonis, ID Interactive CEO Azmat Mohammed, BBC London presenter Philip Lavelle and actress Roxanne McKee from Hollyoaks, at the London Transport Museum on 7 July 2008.
